WHO IS LENNY THE LOGGERHEAD SEA TURTLE?

From what we have read on the Octonauts’ Fandom Wiki, Lenny is a Loggerhead Sea Turtle saved by the Octonauts. After an underwater tremor occurred, Lenny was stuck underneath the Octonauts’ Gup-X, injuring his flippers. Once Lenny was healed, he guided the Octonauts back to their Octopod. Without a doubt, Lenny’s episode left an impression on us. Now, let’s see if Lenny in real life is promising as well!
WHAT DOES LENNY LOOK LIKE IN REAL LIFE?

As seen in the series, Lenny’s overall appearance possesses brown pigment. He also shares a strong resemblance to another turtle in the series, which is Sandy. But their difference is their shells’ features. Sandy has a leather-like shell with white stripes, while Lenny has a pentagon-shaped pattern on his sturdy shell. Now, let’s compare Lenny’s appearance from the series to his real-life counterpart.

According to the National Geographic website, the Loggerhead Sea Turtle got its name because of its prominent head. Like in the series, the turtle’s appearance is composed of a reddish-brown body with a strong shell. The pentagon-shaped patterns are present too. Hence, the Octonauts series precisely captured the Loggerhead Sea Turtle’s appearance!
Aside from its shell, the Loggerhead Sea Turtle’s jaws are strong as well. Its average size measures up to three feet and averagely weighs 250 pounds, as revealed by The National Wildlife Federation. Last but not least, its flippers and hind legs are one of its essential features. With that said, let’s move on to the special or unique abilities this turtle possesses.
WHAT ARE THE LOGGERHEAD TURTLE’S UNIQUE ABILITIES?

Here’s why Lenny the Loggerhead Sea Turtle is a vital creature in the sea. Did you know that the Loggerhead Sea Turtle is a key creature in the ecosystem? Without this species of turtle, some of the sea creatures’ survivability will be threatened. The turtle’s droppings serve as food for deep-sea creatures. Its shell acts as a habitat for Barnacles, crabs, and algae. Lastly, the turtle’s youngs are a food source for numerous predators.
But, here’s a question often asked. Why are Loggerhead Sea Turtles “cry?” Well, we all know that this turtle’s habitat has a high concentration of salt. It also ingests a huge amount of salt that, if not secreted, can be lethal. So, the Loggerhead Sea Turtle has salt glands in its eye that secrete the excess salt out of the turtle’s body. As a result, the turtle appears as if it is crying.
Without a doubt, the Lenny in real life is an interesting topic to delve into!
