1. MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY

Oscar Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey, who played Palmer Joss, was the main protagonist’s love interest in the top box office film. He followed Contact with another leading role in the comedy-drama The Newton Boys and satire film EDtv. Also, in 1998, he directed and wrote his second film, a short entitled The Rebel, according to IMDb.

In 2005, McConaughey became an executive film producer for Sahara, which is his first production credit. A year later, he met the Brazilian-American model Camila Alves, and they got married in 2012. Currently, they have three children – a daughter and two sons. He also became a minority owner of a team in Major League Soccer Austin FC.

This year, McConaughey just completed his role as a voice actor in Sing 2 for Buster Moon. He also confirmed last March that he is running for governor in the state of Texas in 2022.

2. JODIE FOSTER

Jodie Foster, who portrayed the main lead Dr. Eleanor Arroway, bagged five acting awards for her work in Contact. She had been regarded as one of the best actresses of her time. Currently, she has 51 acting nominations and 61 wins, including two Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and three British Film Awards. In addition, she is also a known director with ten credits under her name. Some of her famous works included Orange Is the New Black and Black Mirror.

Foster had been married to producer Cydney Bernard from 1993. They had two sons together and were married for 14 years before calling it quits in 2008. In 2013, she met the photographer Alexandra Hedison, and they got married after a year of dating. It may have come as a shock to many, but she addressed her coming out during her speech in the 70^th Golden Globe when she was given the Cecil B. Demille Award.

In 2021, she played Nancy Hollander in The Mauritanian, where she received the Best Supporting Actress Award from the AARP Movies for Grownups. Also, when she accepted her award in this year’s Golden Globe conducted via Zoom, her wife appeared alongside her.

3. DAVID MORSE

Veteran actor David Morse, who played Ted Arroway, got best known for his role in Contact, The Green Mile, and The Hurt Locker. Aside from acting, he also wrote an episode for the TV series Hack in 2003. Morse also started producing movies in 2013 and began with the film McCanick, followed by the 2015 film The Boy as an executive producer.

Presently, Morse has at least 100 acting credits under his name. This year, he appeared in The Virtuoso as The Deputy and in the TV series The Chair. He is also currently filming an Untitled Cabrini Film and voiced a character in the documentary The Gettysburg Address, which is soon to be released.

4. TOM SKERRITT

Tom Skerritt, who portrayed David Drumlin, has become one of the most credited actors in America. With more or less 200 films under his name and a Primetime Emmy, Skerritt is well-known in the industry as an actor, producer, and director.

The American actor also started producing films in 2014 with The Rocky Moutain Fly Highway. Already 88 years old this year, Skerritt is still in the industry and had just finished filming and producing the 2021 film East of the Mountains.
