ANALYSIS
17 out of 25 basketball player characters are six feet tall and above. Jun Uozumi is the tallest, with 202 cm (6’7″). We can compare his height with Kawhi Leonard of the LA Clippers, who is also 6’7″. Next in line are Toru Hanagata and Takenori Akagi, who are 197 cm (6′ 5″). They are also from different teams – Uozumi from Ryonan, Hanagata from Shoyo, and Akagi from Shohoku. Because of their height, the top 3 functions as the Center of each team. In addition, the shortest Center on our list is Oda Tatsumasa of Takezono; he is on the 14th spot at 185 cm (6′ 1″).

The main character of the series and Shohoku’s Power Forward, Hanamichi Sakuragi, is on the 8th spot with 190 cm (6′ 2″). His height is comparable with Kyrie Irving, also listed as 6’2″. In the anime series, he is also of the same height as Kazushi Hasegawa of Shoyo and Akira Sendoh of Ryonan, who are also Forwards of their teams. Moreover, one of Sakuragi’s rivals,Kicchou Fukuda, is Ryonan’s Power Forward. He is on the 12th spot with 188 cm (6′ 2″) and is equally tall as Shohoku’s Small Forward, Kaede Rukawa, and Aiwa’s Shooting Guard, Dai Moroboshi. On the other hand, the tallest forwards on our list are from Shoyo – Shoichi Takano and Mitsuru Nagano, with 193 cm and 191 cm height, respectively. The shortest Small Forwards in the series are Kiminobu Kogure from Shohoku and Nobunaga Kiyota of Kainan.

Meanwhile, the tallest Point Guard on our list is Kainan’s Team Captain, the 17-year old Shinichi Maki. He is 184 cm (6′ 0″) and is as tall as Shohoku’s Shooting Guard, Hisashi Mitsui. Most of the shortest characters in this series are Shooting Guards and Point Guards. These include Kenji Fujima of Shoyo, Hiroaki Koshino of Ryonan, and Ryota Miyagi of Shohoku. Lastly, the shortest player in this list is the 6th man for Kainan, Yoshinori Miyawasu, with 160cm (5′ 3″). Contrary to his awkward and distracting presence, he is a reliable 3-point-shooter despite his height. He is as tall as the shortest NBA player, Muggsy Bogues.
