It also includes Gerard John Schaefer, who committed gruesome murders while working as the sheriff’s deputy in Martin County.

Next on our list is New York as the second rank with nine serial killers. Here, we have the notorious Boston Strangler, Richard Cottingham, Waneta Hoyt, Joel Rifkin, Heriberto Seda, Marybeth Tinning, Nathaniel White, and David Berkowitz. It also includes Kenneth Bianchi, who strangled and killed women aged 12-28.
The third on the list is Michigan, with seven known serial killers. Also known as the Wolverine State, this area was home to serial killers John Eric Armstrong, Rudy Bladel, Richard Clarey, Anthony Guy Walker, Elias Abuelazam, John Norman Collins, and the Oakland County Child Killer.
Next, the state on rank four is the Keystone State, or Pennsylvania, with three serial killers. Known to have killed about 45 people, Charles Edmund Cullen was one of the serial killers who operated in the state. The other two are Timothy Krajcir and Joseph Daniel Miller.
Lastly, with three serial killers, Wisconsin ranks fifth. Jeffrey Dahmer or the Milwaukee Cannibal, together with Ed Gein and Lorenzo Fayne, are the serial killers known to have killed people in the state.
