Pheasants are within the Phasianidae subfamily in Galliformes order. The pheasant genera native range is restricted to some Asian countries. Hence, we’ve created a list of the four most beautiful pheasants and check each of them below.

1. THE PALAWAN PEACOCK

It is considered to be the most beautiful of the peacock species. The male has a long metallic blue crest with white lines above and below its eyes. Besides that, its head, underparts, and flight feathers are black. Also, the mantle and wing coverts are metallic blue with purple reflections. Its back, rump, and tail are black with rusty brown spots.

The female is smaller than the male, with no spurs. It’s also attractively colored to attract a female. She is mainly mottled brown and has a beige crest, and isn’t as visible as the male. Its face and throat are white, and the tail is much shorter than that of the male. The bills are black, and the feet are brown in both sexes.

2. THE HIMALAYAN MONAL

The Himalayan monal is a big colorful pheasant that’s native to Himalayan forests. The male adults have multicolored plumage throughout, while the females, as in other pheasants, are more subdued in color. The male’s notable features include a long, metallic green crest, coppery feathers on the back and neck, and a prominent white rump visible when the bird is flying.

The male’s tail feathers are uniformly rufous, becoming darker towards the tips, whereas females’ lower tail-coverts are white, barred with black and red colors. The female has a prominent white patch on the throat and a white stripe on the tail.

3. The Golden Pheasant

The golden pheasants are popular for their brilliant colored plumage. They have a beautiful golden-yellow crest tipped with red, and their underpart is bright red. The wattle of the golden pheasant is yellow, and its upper back is green. They also have dark-red shoulder feathers and a long pale brown tail.

The male golden pheasants are more colorful than females. They have distinctive scarlet breasts and flanks. Their central tail feathers also have striking black spots. Unlike male pheasants, females have a duller mottled brown plumage.

The rump is buffy-yellow, and the barred is also green. They also have a beautiful white belly and a dark green head. On the hind crown, there is a bright red crest. The bill is grey, the eyes are white with a blue ring around them, and its feet and legs are pale blue, with spurs.

The female has rich rufous-brown plumage, a heavily barred black overall. The underparts are usually paler than the upperparts. On the head, the crown is more reddish, but the nape is dark grey. The tail is similar in color to body plumage, but it is much shorter than in males. The eyes are brown with pale grey eyerings.
