Ranked: 10 Best Disney Characters With A Modern Twist!

Some of the Disney characters have decades among us; that’s why many artists and cosplayers use their creativity to add a modern twist to the classics. Would you like to see the best ones? Keep on watching! Here are the best Disney characters with a modern twist.

10. ARIEL

Cosplayer Ali Williams came up with the idea that if Ariel were a modern girl, she’d surely be an archeologist. Ariel loves to seek, find, and learn about lost human treasures, which would be a perfectly fitting job for her!

But also, Ariel would surely be dealing with online work and video calls nowadays, so here you have Ali’s version of Ariel doing a Zoom meeting! We found this both very creative and very funny!

9. PRINCE ERIC

Devianart artist Hyung86 came up with a series of Disney Characters as if they were college students. Eric has an idea of a modern prince. He studies marine biology, loves swimming, surfing, and everything related to the sea.

We loved the fact that he added a brother with whom Eric could share his hobbies! Eric would undoubtedly be one of the popular guys on the campus. Prince Eric also inspired the artist Jirka Väätäinen who made an incredibly realistic portrait of Ariel’s prince. Yes, it is a drawing! And it’s spectacular!

8. CRUELLA DE VIL

Rachell Parcell thinks Cruella De Vil is Disney’s most chic villain, and she’s right! That’s why we loved her portrayal of the fur-obsessed lady. Modern-day Cruella would probably be an Instagram model or a fashion blogger, don’t you think so?

7. VANELLOPE VON SCHWEETZ

Vanellope already has a very modern style, but in both drawings, the artist made such a fantastic work that we had to feature them. A modern-day Vanellope would be full of colorful hair accessories, fabric patches, and she would surely be a gamer girl. And, of course, she would love to eat candies.

The painted version belongs to TatiMoons, while artist Fernanda Suarez made the digital art.

6. BELLE

Belle was a book lover, and she showed that from the very first moment, so that’s why cosplayer DarthLexii portrayed her as a modern writer who also loves to travel the world. She kept Belle’s classic hairstyle as a hint for the character we know and love.

Chilean artist Fernanda Suarez also did a great modern-day Belle; the rose patch on her jacket reminds us of the rose from the movie. We are sure Belle’s reading her favorite novel in this awesome digital drawing.

5. SCAR

Scar is a complicated character when it comes to cosplaying, but bringing him into the human world with a modern twist? That is called talent! Once again, artist Fernanda Suarez made an excellent art piece in her portrayal of a modern-day Scar. The eyes, the hair, the scar, and even the “long live the king” phrase on his shirt; it’s the details that make this drawing so amazing.

4. RAPUNZEL

What would you expect of a Disney princess that’s an artist? Many talented people took her as inspiration and brought her to the modern world. In her college student version, Hyung86 kept her long hair and gave her a hoodie with Pascal’s face. Of course, she would be attending a lot of arts and crafts classes.

Artist TatiMoons make Rapunzel look like a model in her excellent drawing. We loved to see the twist she gave to her dress and how she added some iconic Rapunzel things in the form of tattoos.

3. JESSIE

Modern-day Jessie, the cowgirl, would still love horses and anything related to the country, just in a more fashionable way! Like TatiMoons showed in her portrayal of a modern Jessie, she’s still rocking the cowboy print and her cowboy hat while looking incredible!

Fernanda Suarez also did a modern version of Jessie; we loved how she kept all the patterns and colors of her clothes, but in a more feminine way, that makes her look incredible!

2. TINKERBELL

Tinkerbell is always there to support her friends, with a cheerful and almost hyperactive personality; it makes total sense that college student Tinkerbell would be in the cheerleading team. Once again, he credits Hyung86 for his incredible talent and creativity.

Another modern version of Tink shows us how fashionable she would be with her classic high bun hairstyle and some hints to her story, like the pixie dust tattoo and the fairy wings backpack. Credits to the talented Fernanda Suarez

1. HERCULES

In the “Disney University” artist Hyung86 created, Hercules would surely be a football player. Strong, agile, and fresh; we are sure Hercules would love all the attention he would get as the hero of the team! As always, we like to see some references to the originals, as shown in Herc’s lighting printing on his muscle-t.
