In an article you can find in the AnimationXpress website, Marc du Pontavice shared some things about the production of the successful series. One interesting thing he said about the considerations he had when designing the characters was: “. I wanted to bring back into fashion that kind of non-verbal show. I told the creator, Jean-Yves Raimbaud to think of what Tom and Jerry would look like in 2000.” So, they decided to swap Jerry, the mouse, to cockroaches.


5. An episode was banned due to hypnosis

Hip Hip Hip Hypnoses is the 17th episode of Season 2. In this episode, Marky learns about hypnosis after finding a book about it. He then applies all the lessons he acquired on Oggy. And if you watched the episode, you would know that the tricks worked. But if you are from Morocco, you would not know about this episode because it was, in fact, banned.


6. Witty poems have been dubbed over the animation in the German version

The producers of Oggy and the Cockroaches Germany decided to be more creative with the characters’ dialogues. Eberhard Storeck, German dialog editor legend, wrote poems that, of course, relate to the screen action.


7. The relationship between Jack and Oggy vary in some versions

What we know for sure is that Jack is Oggy’s neighbor. In other versions, he is portrayed as his cousin. However, in the Hindi Dub, Jack is Oggy’s older brother. Which one do you think Jack is?

The Ghost-hunter is the 55th episode of season 1. It is mainly about how Oggy got very scared after watching a 1940s era giant monster movie.
