Have you ever noticed that almost all animal-cartoon film contains a dog character? We can’t deny how cute and intelligent they are. In this list, we are going to dive in with some dog cartoon characters in real life. Stay tuned!
1. WHITE SHEPERD DOG

First is the adventures of Bolt, a White Shepherd dog, and his owner, 13-year-old Penny, are unlike any other. Bolt has been made to believe he’s a superhero dog conquering crime alongside Penny, and when she’s “kidnapped,” he does the only thing he knows how to do — save her.
If you know anything about German Shepherds (or even if you don’t), you know that they were developed from continental herding dogs in Germany in the 1890s. A man named Max von Stephanitz finalized the appearance of the German Shepherd Dog in 1899. The recessive gene for a white coat has always been present in the breed. A white herding dog was the grandfather of the dog, acknowledged as the foundation of all contemporary German Shepherd bloodlines. White coats only became a disqualification in the breed in 1933, after the Nazi Party took over the breed club in Germany when they took over many things in the country. They (erroneously) believed that the white dogs were causing the other coat colors to become paler. The breed standard remained unchanged after the war, with white coats a disqualification.
2. DACHSHUND

The next character is part of the original Toy Story gang. The toy Dachshund dog with a Slinky body made a name for himself early on in the franchise, thanks to his unique Southern accent and unwavering loyalty to Woody. Time and again, Slinky helps the rest of the toys throughout their various journeys.
Dachshunds, affectionately called Doxies, are famous for their adorable, funny shape. But their long bodies and short legs were meant for more than just making humans fall in love with them.
The name “Dachshund” is German for badger dog. Dachshunds’ short legs keep them low to the ground to track scents, and their narrow bodies allow them to crawl into caves, looking for badgers. Despite their small size, Dachshunds are brave and fierce. Over time, they were bred in different varieties to hunt different kinds of prey.
3. AMERICAN COCKER SPANIEL

There’s nothing quite like a love story between two precious dogs. The following characters are proof of it. The 1955 classic animated movie remains close to the hearts of many who love dogs and the idea of love itself. This might just inspire you to go out and adopt your own American Cocker Spaniel and named her Lady.
The Cocker Spaniel is primarily a beloved companion dog breed, though they remain a capable bird dog at heart. Beautiful to look at–and labor-intensive to groom–the Cocker’s amenable, cheerful disposition also makes them a treat to have in the family. No wonder why this character is so famous!
4. GREAT DANE

Generations have known this next character. In 1969, the Mystery Machine made its debut with four teenagers and one Great Dane in it. Although Scooby-Doo can’t speak, his gang of mystery solvers has no trouble communicating with him, especially his best friend Shaggy.
They’re undoubtedly great, but did you know they’re not Danish? Dogs resembling Great Danes appear as far back as ancient Egyptian carvings, but the modern Great Dane was bred in Germany in the 1800s as a boar-hunting beast. Today, these gentle giant make beloved family pets and are often described as “the Apollo of dogs,” thanks to their grace, courage, stature, and beauty.
5. BEAGLE

Now let’s talk about Snoopy, the famous little black and white dog loved by thousands. Based on the Peanuts comic strip, the 1972 film follows Snoopy, a Beagle dog, on an adventure to see his original owner, Lila. This story has moved the hearts of generations.
Gentle-natured, highly intelligent, and playful – It’s no wonder the Beagle has been firmly positioned as one of the top-ten most-popular breeds in North America for the last 30 years. These canines have a long history of serving as human counterparts, hunting companions, and beloved pets that dates back to Ancient Greek times. These little dogs have a small frame and playful personality but a hugely adventurous spirit led by stubborn determination because of their genetic need to track and hunt.
6. HUSKY

In the next spot, we have a very particular character. Balto’s tale makes for one of the more heartbreaking animated movies out there based on a true story. Because he’s part wolf, part dog, Balto is shunned by the adored sled dogs in town. But when a diphtheria epidemic hits, he steps up and joins the team on a dangerous expedition to obtain medicine and bring it to Nome.
Balto is a Siberian Husky. Siberian huskies are known for their wolfish good looks, but deep down, they’re all dogs. However, studies say that the Shiba Inu and the Chow Chow share the most DNA with the grey wolf, and coming in near the top is the Siberian husky. That said, huskies are domesticated dogs and have evolved separately from their wild cousins for thousands of years.
7. GOLDEN RETRIEVER

The next character touched everyone’s heart with his memorable line: “I just met you, and I love you.”
If every owner had a high-tech collar that translated their dog’s every passing thought, they’d probably hear many of the same lines that come from Dug, the Golden Retriever, in Disney Pixar’s Up. The playful pooch became a trusty companion for Carl and Russell in the movie.
Golden Retrievers love hanging out with the people who make up their “family.” A Golden is typically very tolerant of children and tends to get along well with other family pets—cats included! Add an obedient and fiercely loyal nature along with patience and a fun-loving spirit, and you’ll see why Goldens make ideal family pets.
8. DACHSHUND TERRIER

The next character is Odie from Garfield. Both Garfield’s victim and best friend, Odie is a not-so-clever yet adorable dog cartoon. He was adopted by Garfield’s owner when he saw that Odie was lost and had no family. Garfield frequently calls Odie a moron, although Odie is simple and kindhearted. He can act stupid, but on occasion, he outsmarts Garfield and seems to take his revenge. He is a silent Dachshund Terrier who never speaks a single word, though, in a few cartoons and comic strips, he is shown yelling wordlessly at Garfield.
The famously elongated bodies, short legs, and ever-alert, comical look of the dachshund have won millions of hearts worldwide. But while the physical appearance of a dachshund can put a smile on any dog lover’s face, many other dachshund mixes might even be cuter. One dachshund mix that has become very popular in the recent past is the Dachshund Terrier Mix—a cross between purebred dachshund with a terrier.
People have fallen in love with this mix not only because they are cute but also because they make great friends and are complete amusers. This is one dachshund mix that will never let you get bored as they are weird, funny, and entertaining.
9. BASSET HOUNDS

Now, as our last character, we have Droopy. Tex Avery created droopy. He may seem a slow and lazy dog, but he outsmarts his enemies with his wit. Droopy is a very serious kind of dog, but like other animated dogs, he is adorable and can make you laugh and impress you with his intelligence at the same time. Droopy’s quiet nature and funny sense of humor make him one of the best animated dogs.
With their trailing ears and adorably drooping faces, Basset Hounds are beloved pups. This breed originated in sixth-century France, as hunting cousins to the longer-legged Bloodhound.
Basset Hounds are intelligent and independent, even bordering on stubbornness. They were bred to follow a scent single-mindedly, blocking out all distractions. This has made them highly alert and independent, if sometimes reluctant to take instruction. But fear not! Bassets can be trained, it’s just important to buy a properly socialized puppy from a reputable breeder, and train them well and early. With patience and hard work, these dogs can become so well skilled that it would surprise you, just like Droopy does every time we watch him in action.
